Meditation Lowers BP

Practicing Transcendental Meditation (TM) daily can control high blood pressure. Researchers at the University of Kentucky studied nine randomized trials that used TM as the principal source of BP reduction, and compared them with a control group. Regular practice of TM saw a reduction of systolic blood pressure by 4.7 points and diastolic blood pressure by 3.2 points. BP reduction associated with TM can result in a 12-15 per cent reduced risk of death from cardiovascular diseases and a 15-20 per cent reduced risk of stroke.
