Exercises for your heart
A healthy heart is vital to a happy and productive life. Try these hearty exercises with US-based fitness consultant T. Rose. She is a corporate trainer with Counter Express. The world’s second largest fitness center for women, it has presence in 70 countries.
Chest press
The exercise is done with the equipment called chest press. Strengthens the muscles of shoulder, arms and chest that support the heart.
Weights on rebound board
Hold the weights in both the hands. Stand straight with right hand up in the air. While bringing the hand down to your chest, take your left leg back. Do the same with left hand and right leg. It makes the heart pump faster and increases blood circulation in the heart.
Strength training
Stand with your back straight and feet shoulder width apart. Keep elbows close to the body. Hold the loop and inhale. While taking your hands up, exhale through your mouth and while bringing hands down, inhale through your nose. The exercise increases the strength of the heart.
Aerobics with weights
Hold the weight in both hands. Stand straight. Keeping the back straight, bring your left knee up to meet your right elbow. Do the same with your right knee and left elbow. Do it as fast as you can.
Skipping rope on rebound board
Skipping makes the heart beat faster; increases its strength.
Jogging
Jogging is good for the heart but it is not advisable for those who have weak knee joints. You can also jog on the rebound board.
Hullahoop
You must have done it when you were a kid. But this time do it with weights. The hullahoop comes with dumbbells. So pick this one, set it around your waist and do it for as long as possible.
NOTE: Do these exercises for 45 seconds each, for 45 minutes. You could also choose to do one exercise for 45 minutes as a complete heart workout.
