Strengthening Foot Muscles

Foot-workouts at your workplace

To tone up foot muscles: pick up a pencil, marble or a cotton ball with your toes. Then lift the object up toward your hand by turning in the sole of the foot (this move will also strengthen the ankle). Do 10 repetitions with each foot daily.

To strengthen the plantar fascia (the sole of your feet) stand with the ball of your foot on the edge of a stair, reach for the bottom step with your heel until you feel a stretch in the arch of the foot. Do 10 reps. with each foot daily.

To relieve ankle stiffness: sit in a chair with one leg crossed over the other. First bend your top foot down, then up, next rotate the foot in one direction, then the other. Do 10-15 reps. with each foot daily.
